The new Bayfomox Coating system of specialty chemicals group LANXESS effects good thermal insulation, high fire resistance and acoustic insulation in one manufacturing step.
Because of its unique gas and air impermeability, halobutyl rubber is the obvious choice for secure sterile containers for injection solutions. This material can also comply with the stringent specifications relating to seals for syringes and infusion pumps.
The particularly easy-flowing HNBR grade Therban AT 3400 VP has potential applications in liquid injection molding (LIM), the production of in-place gaskets (IPG) and the manufacture of intricate seals.
The fuel filter’s housing and lid are made of Durethan DP BCF 30 X H2.0, a polyamide 6 from LANXESS that is reinforced with 30 percent by weight glass and carbon fibers. Unlike die-cast aluminum, this electrically conductive resin yields components that require little secondary finishing.
Unlike its counterpart made of Durethan (left), the thermoset half-shell for the high-current circuit-breaker (right) has to be deflashed, necessitating laborious and costly secondary finishing. LANXESS has developed a new iron oxide for the formulation of chemical toners used in the latest printer model lines. The product named Bayoxide E TP LXS 5248 is characterized by high tinting strength, soft magnetic properties, good flowability and a very uniform particle size distribution.
Marketed under the LANXESS brand names Perbunan, Krynac and Baymod N the rubber grade NBR is used for seals, hoses in hydraulic and pneumatic applications or blankets for rolls.
The two operating switches in the steering wheel module of the BMW Z4 Roadster – the right-hand switch is shown here – are made from Pocan DP T 7140 LDS, which is tailor-made for the LDS process.
The new RFID transponders are manufactured with the aid of Laser Direct Structuring (LDS) as three-dimensional plastic printed circuits (MID). They are made of Pocan DP T7140 LDS (PET+PBT).
Thanks to its impressive oil and aging resistance, outstanding dynamic properties and abrasion resistance, the high-performance HNBR elastomer Therban AT is used in the stator/rotor systems of drill heads in the oil extraction industry.
Test facility on the roof of the LANXESS headquarters in Leverkusen: Since mid-2007, the specialty chemical company together with Centrosolar Group AG has been testing solar modules based on a new EVA (ethylene vinyl acetate) that encases the devices.
