One strategic focus of LANXESS lies on the most modern applications in the automotive industry. Organic sheets, glass fibre mats reinforced with the high-tech plastic Durethan, reduce weight in frame-and-body construction as in spare wheel wells and front ends.

As the world’s leading producer of synthetic rubbers for the tire industry, LANXESS is one of the pioneers concerning “green tires”. These tires spare fuel – with unchanged safety – and therefore preserve the environment.

The high-tech plastic Durethan replaces the metal carriers which are usually employed in stadiums and other sports venues. Even at the seats’ borders they withstand loads of up to 600 kg.

Powermoon and Partymoon are being employed for interior and exterior lighting. The lightweight balloon skin is surfaced with the weather and UV-resistant specialty rubber Levapren and is filled with helium.

During the visit, Lars Kraus (left), head of the Technical Marketing Service in the Semi-Crystalline Products business unit, explained the innovations showcased at the stand and provided insight into the fascinating world of polymer chemistry.
